Draft Fisheries Natura Plan for Mussel Seed in Castlemaine Harbour 2016-2026
A public consultation is now underway on a draft Fisheries Natura Plan for Mussel Seed Fishery in Castlemaine Harbour for 2016-2026 and the associated Appropriate Assessment report.
This plan was developed by the Secretariat of the Bottom Grown Mussel Consultative Forum in consultation with BIM and local operators. The MI has prepared the Appropriate Assessment report.
The plan aims to ensure that activities (mussel seed fishing and relaying of same on aquaculture sites) taking place in the Castlemaine Natura 2000 sites are in compliance with the Habitats Directive. It follows on from the previous plan which ran from 2011 for 5 years.
