Velvet Crab
Background
Earlier in 2016 the Western Regional Inshore Fisheries Forum (WRIFF) requested the support of the National Inshore Fisheries Forum (NIFF) for their proposal to request the introduction of a minimum conservation reference size for velvet crab. This stock provides an important inshore fishery in many regions. With the support of the NIFF this proposal was brought to the Minister who has decided to proceed with a public consultation to allow all interested parties submit their views on the matter.
Please note this public consultation closed on 09 December 2017
